Week 1.2 How did you find Week 1?

As you know we started the course a bit late and so this week I am basically finishing Week 1 on Tuesday evening (15th May) and am then going into Week 2 for the rest of the week. Crazy I know!

Please add your reflection for the first part (which I call Week 1 - creating the wiki)  in the comment box of this post. How did it go? Maybe you haven't got started? Whatever it is...please just say so! (Then I will know you are still out there and I am not alone in cyberspace!) Have you created your wiki yet? If you have this is the place to add your new address. To be honest - I can't wait to see the wikis! Please do not be shy to add your details no matter how basic you feel it might be! We're all in this together.

Enjoy the ride.

  3. I have done the first steps to create my very first wiki! My wiki address is www.saintsjuniorlab.wikispaces.com I could not open the link to the different kinds of wikis (13minute). It gave me and error message - cannot find server.
I could open the other links and could decide on a type of wiki for my classroom.

  6. Hi Fiona and everyone. I am blown away and feeling like I need a whole year off to try out these amazing wikis that you have shown us. As I looked at each one, I was becoming a bit of an "Ambitious Alice" cos I was like a kid in a candy store...so many exciting uses for wikis....and not enough time! Wow! Then I got sidetracked looking at all their links! Okay back to the wiki. I am using my original one...purely cos that is the one that needs help. I want to use it for connecting the grades in our school that do use wikis, and it is to link to a particular project that I might be doing in computer lessons....if that makes sense. http://micklefield.wikispaces.com/

  10. Hi Fiona, I'm just brushing up my wiki skills and it was good to be reminded about the value a wiki can add to teaching and learning. Pity about the gremlins towards the end of the webinar. I'm still playing around, the operative word being "playing"! here's what I came up with http://eyeseetea.wikispaces.com/. Do you know of any wiki templates? I tried searching but not properly it seems. Looking forward to the rest of the course!. Sammy Bouwers

    1. Hi Sammy, your wiki is really great. Well done. I don't know of any templates other than the ones they supply. Basically, with the Wikispaces template you can make it colourful and add a nice header.I think that would be about all one could do. Regards, Fiona

  12. Hi Fiona, Brenda Here. I created a wiki which I want to use as a collaborative project on the Olympics. Unfortunately for most of the northern hemisphere schools the year is almost over so they don't have time to join. I thought I'd post it as my wiki anyway. I have a lot to learn - like how to put a widget in the navigation bar. I'm looking forward to learning more. The link to my wiki is http://2012globalolympicproject.wikispaces.com/

  16. Hi Fiona

Have created my wiki. I can see that this is going to be great fun too! I have not been able to add much content at this stage as our internet has been giving us grief today. I was also unable to watch the video on types of wiki's and got the same server connection error as someone else did.

  26. Sean Hampton-Cole:
Trying to catch up. I have already created several wikis, but never really used them. I am hoping to use the one I created for this course (Oceans in Crisis) with either my Grade 10s or 11s next term. Now to add content and 'usability' features. Methinks the way I want this to go is a kind of class diary for what we are exploring in class. If students add notes, useful links, etc. This can become their 'handout' for this section of work. Onwards...

  27. Hi Sean, all your ideas sound very exciting. I look forward to you sharing your wiki URL with us. Regards, Fiona

  28. Hi Fiona
I go 'lost' in the 'being-a-teacher-thing'. Only now, in the school holiday, after marking midyear examinations, completing new CAPS training for the teachers in my cluster, can I actually sit and concentrate on your wonderful course I've tried.
