We have now completed Week 2 of the SchoolNet wiki course? Are you still with us? Please add your reflection even if it is to say that you are planning to start. For those who have created wikis thank you so much! It is great to see the wikis rolling in!
This week our main task was to add some navigation pages. The optional tasks were adding some bells and whistles to your wiki such as gadgets, a header and Twitter. Thanks to all those who attended the webinar watching a hands on demonstration of the tasks.
See you all next week!

Hi. Thanks for the webinar Thursday. I am having great fun. Lots of things, ideas going through my mind at the moment. Have added my ClustrMap. Will look through the resource material that you provided, Fiona and add some more widgets. I changed my "look and feel" had problems with the layout of Notes and changed it. Now it looks much better...

I am really enjoying this!

Dear Fiona
ReplyDeleteI am almost there but I struggled with the heading. I am still using office 2007. I managed to resize the picture but the results are different. I have decided to try it with Windows 7 and see what is the outcome. For now that is my only challenge.
Have a super weekend Fiona

Saul
One more thing Fiona, I forgot to insert the URL. I have changed the orinal one to http://gnelearning.wikispaces.com/

Hi Fiona
ReplyDeleteChanging the name went well and adding the widgets were fun. I tried to do the new logo (with the kids picture in). I had a problem with the dimensions. For mine to fit I had to use 1820 x 200 - I persisted and finally got there. The only problem now is that I have the'home' word randomly in the middle of my logo. I managed to move my page name 'Welcome Grade 5" down by editing and entering down. Please help.http://micklefieldgrade52012.wikispaces.com/

I think it is because I have the 'bubble' theme. The writing area is much higher up. Should I change to another theme?

ReplyDeleteHi Fiona
Thanx for the webinar last night. Fantastic and I am very excited!
I did go and add some things: clustr map and feedjit. I had an issue with feedjit which I must still change...I had it set on 10 chats which I now realise makes the navigation page longer than it needs to be! I also had the width set on 200 which I must change to about 170 pixels otherwise it is too wide for the width of my navigation page. I have managed to change my logo at the top...although it has a gap on the right hand side. By chance my size of my logo picture in Paint was 1080 which seems to almost fill it up. But is there a way to find out how many pixels is in a header? My friend Kath has had to use different pixel widths completely...probably cos she chose the bubble theme initially.
Is there any way to take about the word "home" at the top of the home page. It puts it in automatically, and I can't delete it in EDIT. It just looks strange lurking about the top of the home page when I know it is the home page!! All these questions for you!!
Have a wonderful weekend.
I will continue to reset my wikispace...

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful Fiona who saved my wiki by getting rid of my HUGE picture that covered all the buttons and had me almost hysterical!! Beware of ordinary sized pictures!! Thanks Fiona
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona

Judi (Micklefield) again!
ReplyDeleteWell, did the Grade 4 girls LOVE their lesson today....!!!! YES!!!
I showed them how to add a widget....so we made our front page feedjit a bit better in the side width. Each week the girls add more during their lesson to their page on the wiki...as you teach me!
We invited the parents by email to join in on the discussion page and so far we have 18 posts! It helps our clustr map grow!!
I added a video to the front page...to show how to wiki (just for my own records) and without realising it, many of the girls were watching, and now they want videos too!
See our updated wiki at http://micklefieldgrade4.wikispaces.com/
Thanks again Fiona....this course is wonderful!
Oh Dear! I am HORRIBLY behind. I have a lot going on at the moment, but hope to catch up before the end of the course.
ReplyDeleteFiona I just don't know how you do it. So many ideas and not enough hours in the day... (or in my case night - when the kiddies are asleep)

Trying hard to find the time. My class had fun working on their page today - just by typing what their favourite food is. Junk food seems to rule - so surprised!!!! (not at all)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the step by step help Fiona.

Hi Fiona. am just keeping up - I think - but am having great fun with this course and am finding your presentations very clear and easy to follow. I have added a twitter feed, feedjit and cluster map without a problem and am now trying to add other widgets such as a slideshow and embedded videos as well. Thanks for such a grear course.
ReplyDeleteNikki
Hi Fiona! How about if you make your recent webinar screencasts and slideshares available on this blog so that we can do catchup work, please Fiona.
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona
ReplyDeleteI'm still keeping up, did the navigation pages, added widgets, played around with logo's and photo header (still have to decide which one to use) and looked at other editing aspects. Thanks so far. http://eyeseetea.wikispaces.com/

Hi Fiona
ReplyDeleteAm busy marking marking marking but have managed to set up http://dgcdigitalstories.wikispaces.com/ and will be working on it as fast as I can:)
Thanks so much for your wonderful tutorials on PP - very nicely done I must say!
Cheers

Hi Fiona, I have been trying to catch up. Thanks to your instructions I managed to put my clustr map in the correct place on the navigation bar and I've added a Twitter feed. I was working on my Macbook which doesn't have Paint so I haven't tried the banner photo yet but I'll do so soon. Thanks for a great course.

Hi Fiona
ReplyDeleteI am struggling a bit with time, but I am enjoying the course.I just find accessing your powerpoint through slideshare difficult as it takes a long time to load. The PDF version works great.
Thanks for all your tutorials they are great.

Dear Fiona
ReplyDeleteI have managed to add a header to my wiki and added some text.It was much easier than what I thought it would be.

ReplyDeleteProject catch-up... This is not as easy as I thought it would be! Perhaps because I am trying to use an iPad to do all of this! Cannot watch webinars as IPad is not friends with Adobe! Not sure I got the header thing right either because I cannot access the link on how to do it. Had to redo a lot of stuff because I forgot to hit save after making changes (thought this would be automatic, like Google docs!) Enjoying it, despite the frustrations! Check it out at: www.oceansincrisis.wkispaces.com/Oceans+Home
Ok. So I'm still playing catchup but we're getting there. Here is the link http://2012globalolympicproject.wikispaces.com/South+Africa
ReplyDeleteI had a go with the banner. I should have waited until I had a better photo but I wanted to get this done and used a less than perfect photo for practice. It's quite tricky getting the right dimensions.
