I know this will be a busy time of term, but please let's just hear if you are still with us even if you haven't done much to date. For those that are keen to see how a wiki can be used for a project please tune in this week.

  2. Still busy... Have made changes because I could not keep up with what I really want to do with my wiki. So, I modified my wiki to show off the skills I have gained so far. Enjoying in thoroughly and can’t wait to put together what I want to do with my wiki. Thanks for all the instructions, Fiona.

  3. Hi Fiona, I managed to add the writing, photos and video. I am having a problem with centering the table though. I have selected the whole table, clicked on the button that appears underneath, selected table and align, finally center - but no luck! Please help! I added a song to my wiki instead of recording my voice as I haven't had access to a microphone. Will try in the future.

    1. Hi Kathryn, I know - centring is a bit of a pain. I'll send you some screen shots of how I do it. basically, when you make your table and insert the photo. when you are making the photo smaller choose right align which appears under the photo. That seems to put it in the middle. When you add the next photo on the right of it choose left align. That seems to work! Well done. Regards, Fiona

  4. Hi All
Activities of week 3 have been exciting. I did not have much of a problem but I enjoyed everything. I have not yet put audion on my wiki as I am still struggling with my microphone. I went into the vocaroo site and I do not anticipate any problem.

I hope you are all enjoying this as I do.

    Regards
    Saul

  6. Hi Fiona

Have managed to catch up at last and have added audio files (as a QR code), videos, text and pictures to my Wiki. Am literally learning and applying the skills at this stage without worrying too much about layout and content.

  7. Hi Fiona
I put a temporary project up on my main wiki. I used the method of uploading team members without email addresses and then assigned them using an excel spreadsheet.
I am still confused a particular question...please help....in the project does it mean that 2 members of a team can be sitting on 2 different computers at the same time and be in EDIT at the same time?
I still have to work out how you would put a template onto each project page??
Wow, it is busy at the moment, plays and reports this week!!

    1. Hi Anonymous! According to Wikispaces project help, two or more people in a team can write on the same page at the same time from two different computers. Sounds a bit weird to me but that's what they say.

I need to find the second link that says you can. I have added a Slideshare on how to add a template. Regards, Fiona

  8. Hi Everyone, I have been adding features to the wiki each week. It's a global project in which our Grade 3's are participating. http://2012globalolympicproject.wikispaces.com/South+Africa
I've had a couple of challenges. I tried using a two column table to insert the children's .bmp pics of outfit designs for the Olympic team but somehow I couldn't use the second column. I'll work on that.
The other challenge I had was the banner heading. It's a global project so I didn't want to add a photo of just my class. I thought of using a drawing of the Olympic rings done by one of the Grade 3's. I don't have Office 2010 so I couldn't follow Fiona's instructions exactly. I used Microsoft Photo Editor but when I changed the size of the picture the image stayed the same size on the left of the banner and to the right was a wide expanse of white. I'll have to work on that too.
I'm enjoying the course but I'm behind. I haven't tackled the project for Week 4 but I'll get there. Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Hi Brenda, your wiki is superb. Sometimes when adding a table, I add an extra row so that there is a tiny space between the photos. If you don't have Office 2010, whichever versione you have will have Paint surely? Hope all these come right - maybe they have already! Regard, Fiona

  9. Hi Fiona
Judi from Micklefield here! I put on a temporary project just so that I could try your method of adding children without using emails. Thanx...it is a nice method, although we do happen to have emails for our Grade 3 and up.
I have worked out that if I buy wiki (which I won't) then I could set page permissions there...which would mean no need for project pages. But if I use the free wiki pages (which I do) then project pages are great for setting permissions.
Thank you and have a great week!

    1. Hi Judi, that's interesting. I always like to use whatever is free! But I guess the paid version would make life a lot easier. Regards, Fiona

  10. Thanks Fiona. A very informative and useful course! Unfortunately I have to bow out at this stage... Getting too frustrating trying to deal with java problems, flash problems, uploading problems, YouTube embedding problems... All caused by me insisting on trying to iPad my way through this course. I'm sure there are workarounds, but honestly I think there must be something more 'fruit-friendly' out there. Thanks a bunch for the time and trouble! Regards: Sean HC

  12. Oh wow!
I can't get over how much more can be done on a wiki now. The last time I created and used my own one was more than 2 years ago! I am getting excited now.
Fiona I am making one to inspire our teachers - hopefully. I would love to share your fantastic resources with them. Would that be okay?
